About Destination Downtown Edenton

Mission Statement

The mission of Destination Downtown Edenton is to provide leadership dedicated to the preservation, promotion, recruitment and enhancement of Downtown Edenton in a spirit of cooperation.

Vision Statement

Vibrant Downtown Edenton, located on the banks of the Albemarle Sound is steeped in 300 years of history and serves its community with a large assortment of retail businesses, cultural offerings and recreational opportunities that attract folks from far and wide.

The Main Street Program

The Main Street Program is a National Trust for Historic Preservation initiative created in the 1970s to revitalize downtown districts by combining historic preservation, downtown design, promotional events, business recruitment, and community involvement. There are over 1800 National Main Street Programs and 57 in the state of North Carolina. Destination Downtown Edenton, inc. works to enhance Downtown Edenton in order to facilitate a vibrant, positive image that will encourage investors, visitors, consumers, and local residents to live, work, play, shop and celebrate downtown.
